Electronic Arts has taken advantage of the winter market to acquire the services of Julian Gerighty, who leaves Ubisoft and Massive Entertainment after 25 years of service. It is unknown what role Gerighty will take on at the American publisher, but we know that he will become part of DICE, the Swedish team that leads Battlefield Studios and the development of Battlefield 6. His departure is announced a few days after Massive Entertainment and Ubisoft Stockholm have suffered a round of layoffs.

Julian Gerighty has been a key figure in the history of Massive Entertainment, a studio that Ubisoft bought in 2008. We are facing the creative director of The Division and The Division 2, as well as the person who took charge of the saga a year and a half ago. Gerighty was responsible for announcing the development of The Division 3 as executive producer of the franchise and a few days ago he said that this installment will have as big an impact as the first. As head of The Division, he also supervised the rest of the games, including The Division Resurgence and The Division 2: Survivors.

In a brief message published on his X account, Julian Gerighty has announced the beginning of a new adventure without revealing his new destiny, and assured that «the future of The Division shines with its own light.» Massive Entertainment has been more generous with its words. The development team says that he will miss Gerighty, but that they will continue to work on the world of The Division that he helped create over the years. He also reveals that his former colleague and boss now works for Battlefield Studios, and reassures players that the commitment to The Division remains strong.

It is unknown what role Julian Gerighty will take on at DICE and Battlefield Studios, but the position must be worthy of someone who, in addition to working for 12 years on The Division, has dedicated 15 years of his life to Ubisoft. In addition to directing The Division, his resume also includes having been creative director of the first installment of The Crew and Star Wars Outlaws. His signing by Electronic Arts comes shortly after Vince Zampella, head of Battlefield, died in a traffic accident at the end of 2025.
