To start, players interested in Dawn of War IV can purchase the title with the standard edition, which for 59.99 euros includes the base game, or the Commander edition, which in exchange for 89.99 euros adds a three-day early access to start playing on September 14. The Commander Edition also features all the content included in the Year 1 Expansion, which adds the digital soundtrack, the Blood Ravens prologue campaign with a new commander, and the Aftermath expansion that will arrive alongside a new faction.
The Blood Ravens narrative prologue offers a story that takes place before war breaks out on Kronus, when a Blood Ravens strike force returns to Aurelia, their ancestral homeworld. «Guided by a legendary commander, their mission sets in motion events that will decide the future of Kronus,» the official description reads. This mysterious new commander will also be playable in Final Battle and Crusade modes. The Blood Ravens prologue will be available between late 2026 and early 2027.
The Aftermath expansion takes place after the main campaign and adds a new faction whose name has not been revealed. «The Dawn of War saga has a long history of adding new factions after launch, but we think it’s best to keep this particular surprise to ourselves for now,» says the development team. «Let’s just say that when you finish the game’s exciting campaign, there will be plenty of room for speculation as to who will benefit most from the new order imposed on Kronus.» The Aftermath expansion will arrive during the second quarter of 2027.
The roadmap also includes the launch of four free content. The first is Crusade mode, which will be available along with a map pack, followed later by a mission editor and new commander scenarios for Final Battle and Crusade.
