Virtua Fighter 5 REVO is the latest version of the fifth numbered installment of the saga, the same one that Sega has updated and expanded since its launch in 2006. PC players will find the same content as those on PS4 with the Ultimate Showdown, and they will add rollback netcode to improve online play as well as 60 FPS and 4K graphics with new character models, stages and scenes. In total, the title offers a roster of 19 playable characters, game modes such as Ranked Play, Arcade, Training and Local Play, as well as online Tournament and League modes for up to 16 players.
«Virtua Fighter 5 REVO is a new installment that is based on version 2.0 of Virtua Fighter 5 Ultimate Showdown on PS4 to bring Virtua Fighter 5 to Steam,» Sega clarifies.
Regarding version 2.0 of Virtua Fighter 5 Ultimate Showdown for PS4, it is presented as an evolution that goes beyond adjusting the balance for the first time in 13 years «with the intention that you can enjoy deeper and more intense combats […]» says Sega. The update covers four main categories. In addition to balance adjustments to revise movements that did not stand out much, hit effects have been revamped so that combo starts and aerial hit effects influence the outcome, Complexity has been reduced and popular moves from Virtua Fighter 5 R have been restored.
Despite the attention that Sega places on Virtua Fighter 5, the future of the saga depends on a new installment that was announced during The Game Awards 2024 gala. This title is in the hands of Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio, the team responsible for Like a Dragon, which has been collaborating with AM2 for several years in the development of the fighting game series.
