Square Enix's Final Fantals Tactics series has been missing for more than two decades, a situation that will change on September 30 with the arrival in the stores of the remake The Ivalice Chronicles. If this launch meets commercial expectations, we may not have to wait so long to return to Ivalice, since according to the director of the remake Kazutoyo Maehiro if this happens could recover other titles or even get to work with a sequel or a completely new delivery.

Maehiro comments in an interview that if The Ivalice Chronicles is successful it will be good for fans, who can enjoy it, «but, at the same time, it would show the commercial viability of the genus RPG tactic.» «This could open the door to something with Final Fantasy Tactics Advance or Final Fantasy Tactics A2: Grimoire of the Rift, or perhaps to sequelae or new titles,» says Maehiro. «I think I speak on behalf of all those who worked at the original Final Fantasy Tactics and are also involved in The Ivalice Chronicles, when I say we would love this to happen.»

In Maehiro's opinion, advances in hardware have caused more action -oriented games, but adds that this has not condemned games in shifts or tactics, but have advanced along with technology. As a sample of this we have the person person and Clair Oscur: Expedition 33 to which Maehiro refers. «[…] These games have their place, «says the Japanese developer. Now it only remains that Square Enix is aware of it because it is who has to give green light to any project.

The Final Fantasy saga is a sample of gender change within the RPG, of turns in turn of the first deliveries to real -time action through the ATB system. It remains to be seen what will happen to the following chapters or a possible sequel to Final Fantasy Tactics, but the success of Clair Oscur: Expedition 33 or the person saga has shown that there is demand for RPGS in shifts that take advantage of the current hardware.

On the other hand, Dragon Quest producer has commented in a recent interview that if the remakes With HD-2D style of the original trilogy they sell well and have a good reception, Square Enix could give new light to new remakes. This is much more likely to happen if we take into account that the Japanese company likes to recover its old titles in the form of remake. Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest are a good example of this, but also live a live.
