Big day for Battlefield Studios, Electronic Arts and Battlefield players. On the one hand we have the launch of Battlefield RedSec, a battle royale free-to-play available on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series and PC (Steam), and on the other Battlefield 6 begins the first season.

With the launch of RedSec, Battlefield throws down the gauntlet to Warzone, the battle royale from Call of Duty. RedSec's formula to attract the attention of players consists of transferring the three pillars of the latest installment of the game to this popular genre. shooter– Class-based squad play, tactical destruction, and vehicle combat. All this is combined in a totally new, shrinking and generously sized map where 100 players divided into 25 quartets meet. There are no limits when choosing the class, but you must keep in mind that each one has some characteristics and two predetermined devices.

During RedSec games, players gain experience in different ways, the main ones being eliminating enemies and completing missions. Leveling up allows you to obtain traits that improve the performance of the class. Firearms, accessories, throwing weapons and devices also have levels. Additionally, throughout the map there are loot boxes that hide options for arsenal, armor, upgrade kits and Strike Packages that can activate air attacks. To the equation we must add armored vehicles, which are unlocked with missions or obtained by looting a downed enemy.

Progression between RedSec and Battlefield 6 is shared and includes the battle pass (same as Call of Duty and Warzone). Battlefield 6 players can access RedSec through the game's main menu, while everyone else can download the battle royale independently.

Regarding season 1 of Battlefield 6, it launches with a first phase called Rebel Operations that includes a new map known as Blackwell Fields and the Point of Attack game mode, in which two squads of four players compete to capture an objective over several rounds. As a novelty we also have the Traverser Mark 2 vehicle and the following weapons: SOR-300SC (carbine), GGH-22 (belt gun), Mini Scout (sniper rifle) and Rail Protector and LPVO (accessories).

Phase 2 will begin on November 18 with more of the same: new map (Eastwood), new mode (Sabotage) and new weapons (shotgun, sidearm and accessory). The third and final phase will be available on December 9 and will introduce a limited-time event that will visually update the Empire State map and the ice ax as a melee weapon. All of this content is accompanied by a battle pass with cosmetics and items.
