The Game Awards 2024 summary: Astro Bot game of the year, new IP from Naughty Dog and sequels for Okami and Onimusha

The tenth edition of The Game Awards 2024 will be largely remembered for Astro Bot, which won the game of the year award, and the announcement of the sequel to two games that few expected: Okami and Onimusha. The first is in its early stages of development with Hideki Kamiya directing, while the second will arrive in 2026. Geoff Keighley has also managed to present Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, Naughty Dog's new intellectual property, at his gala. the studio responsible for Uncharted and The Last of Us.

The Game Awards 2024 has also left us a trailer for Mafia: The Old Country, which debuts a protagonist, the first gameplay from The Outer Worlds 2 and Borderlands 4, as well as the presentation of Split Fiction, the new cooperative game from the creators of It Takes Two. These four games will be available in 2025, just like Elden Ring: Nightreign, a spin-off that opts for cooperative multiplayer. We don't know when The Witcher IV will go on sale, but with its first cinematic we have discovered that the protagonist is Ciri.
