Sevillian studio Quickfire Games has announced that Prelude: Dark Pain, a turn-based tactical RPG set in a dark fantasy world, will be available on July 27 in Steam Early Access. The title will reach the hands of PC players after having passed a Kickstarter campaign in which it managed to raise 133,955 euros, a figure much higher than the 40,000 euros it needed.

Prelude Dark Pain invites players to venture into a non-linear, dark fantasy open world. We find ourselves in Estatera, a territory devastated by the Dark Pain and where The Order of the Crusade of Ashes rules with an iron fist a large part of the region preaching the word of the Lord of Pain. A few peoples still stand firm in the face of their attacks and oppression, such as the Bluemails, the Consecrators of the Veil or the Van Rigmar. The hero of the campaign is Soren, an ancient warrior who makes his living as a blacksmith, but after an attack on his family he has started a revolution.

The Prelude: Dark Pain demo includes one hour of content and is available on Steam.

To complete Soren’s journey through Estatera players must gather heroes, create the formation that best suits the setting, learn how abilities interact with each other for the best strategic synergy, and dominate a battlefield that presents its own challenges. Prelude Dark Pain promises more than 20 playable heroes, each with two branches of talents and a total of 25 skills. Formations are up to 5 heroes, each of which can be equipped and upgraded with armor and accessories.

From the first day of its early access, Prelude Dark Pain will offer more than 15 hours of playable content with the entire first act, which will tell the story of 9 playable heroes (Soren, Tizon, Tammais, Maya, Sade, Gala, Rufio, Urza and Rayder). Each hero offers their own play style that includes four skills, two passives and different virtues. The title also includes the explorable world map and a first set of cinematics.

Prelude Dark Pain has an early access that will last about a year, so the release date of the full version will be known later. When the title receives update 1.0 it will offer a complete campaign with all the chapters of Soren’s story, more than 20 playable heroes of 8 different classes, a world with 20 actions and 70 types of enemies, including bosses. World quests, raids and equipment creation will also be added during the development of the game.
