The Warhammer 40,000: Mechanicus II release date has been accompanied by a new trailer introducing two leaders: Lector-Dogmatis Videx, a preacher of the Machine God orthodoxy, and the Necron lord Obasis, the Sankhotep dynasty’s bulwark against disorder. These are two of the playable leaders that Mechanicus II players will have access to. In the roster we also have Subdomina Khepra and Quartermaster Rho for those who choose the Adeptus Mechanicus faction, while the Necrons have Vargard Nefershah and the Necron lord Ominekh.
In Warhammer 40,000: Mechanicus II there is a third faction, but unlike the Adeptus Mechanicus and the Necrons it is not playable. These are the Leagues of the Votann, an army of space dwarves devoted to AIs. These expansionist and territorial dwarves led by Ferromaestro Brôkhyr will pose a significant threat to both the Adeptus Mechanicus and the Necrons. The former are against their use of artificial intelligence, while the fight against the latter is well known.
Regarding the characters presented in the trailer, Lector-Dogmatis Videx is an ultra-religious and fanatical type who is presented as a long-distance support leader who stands out for his rituals, wide-range abilities that take an entire round to complete. Well used, these rituals can change the course of a combat. Vix prefers to fight alongside Electropriests and Skitarii scouts, who benefit from her buffs while holding the line until she completes her summons.
Obasis, also known as The Shield, is a close combat Necron lord noted for his endurance, dominance, and advancement. His abilities are enhanced if he is surrounded by Necroguards from his personal court, while his defensive capabilities include absorbing damage and passively generating Dominance, punishing the enemy just for trying to finish him off. Relics and command protocols improve its performance. Its defense capabilities are combined with area tools with melee damage.
