What we took for granted yesterday in the absence of a bureaucratic procedure, is official today. Spiders has announced through his X account who have received confirmation that the company has been liquidated. Bad news for the video game industry, especially the French one, but unfortunately it might not be the last. Nacon, the parent company of Spiders, is in the middle of bankruptcy proceedings and as Wccftech has learned, there are other studios that will follow the same path if they do not find a buyer.

The message published by Spiders in X is forceful. The company does not beat around the bush when it comes to saying that the company «no longer exists», so all its activity has ceased immediately. The studio had additional content on its hands for Greedfall 2: The Dying World, which according to this statement will be released by Nacon «and then… well, that’s it,» says Spiders. In its text, the French studio regrets the situation and also sends a message of gratitude to all the players for their support over the years.

In the event that players have any problems with games developed by Spiders, such as Bound by Flame, The Technomancer, GreedFall, Steelrising or GreedFall 2: The Dying World, they will have to contact the publisher Nacon directly as the Parisian studio does not have the capacity to respond.

Because Nacon is in bankruptcy and under the guardianship of a receiver who aims to restructure the company to try to save it, the closure of Spiders may not be the last. Wccftech sources say Cyanide (Styx), KT Racing (Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown) and motion capture studio Nacon Tech have filed for insolvency just like Spiders. This means that its liquidation is a matter of time and only finding a buyer could save them.

It is unknown for now what will happen to the rest of Nacon’s subsidiaries, such as the Eko Software studio (Dragonkin: The Banished) or the publisher Daedalic Entertainment, and their intellectual properties. The license that Nacon acquired to develop WRC games from 2027 also remains up in the air.
