Until now Mega Crit has focused its resources on fixing serious bugs, improving the feedback systems, polishing graphics, and balancing the game's content to make all cards and items interesting and viable. Although there's still «a long way to go until version 1.0,» the development team hopes to roll out larger content patches «as the weather gets warmer,» so they decided it was a good time to reveal the roadmap below:
Features and systems
- Steam Workshop Support
- Inclusion of more languages
- The bestiary, a way to consult information about the enemies in the game
- Experimental game modes
Current tasks:
- Bug fixes
- Compatibility and performance improvements
- Game balance changes
- Quality of life improvements
- Sound improvements (more ridiculous voices)
- Better in the visual department (less ridiculous temporary art)
Content (sin spoilers)
- Alternative Act 2
- new character
- Alternative Act 3
- More cards, events, relics and potions
For a more distant future
- Ports for other platforms/consoles/mobiles/…
- Steam Achievements.
- Royal victory with all that it entails
«Each week we evaluate our tasks and prioritize what we think is most important. It's not the most organized way to work, but this allows us to experiment and improvise […]» explains Mega Crit. «We don't want to increase the size of the studio in a big way to finish the game sooner. Setting delivery dates could mean that the content does not have the quality we are looking for. «I want Slay the Spire 2, not Slop the Spire 2.»
Mega Crit has also published a question and answer session where they explain that they have not yet decided whether to implement a matchmaking system. For now the studio only promises that it will evaluate it in the future. Finally, we have some statistics, including that more than 145 million games have been played since the title's launch.
