A few months ago we echoed that three Xbox titles had managed to lead the list of the best -selling PS5 games in April both in the United States and in Europe. This fact showed that, at least from a financial point of view, Microsoft's strategy was successful. Now that we have reached the end of the second quarter of 2025 we discover that there are not three, but six, the Xbox games that take the list of the best selling in PlayStation. In this case we only talk about the United States, but if we take into account April data in Europe the situation should not be very different.

The table that Mat Piscatella, a Circana analyst, shares in his Bluesky account was totally unimaginable only one year ago. Neither more nor less than six of the ten best -selling games in PlayStation adding the physical and digital format during the second quarter of 2025, they are part of the Xbox portfolio and are edited by Microsoft. In addition, Xbox titles appear in the first positions with Forza Horizon 5 and The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered leading the list, while between the fourth and sixth place we have Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, Doom: The Dark Age and Indiana Jones and the Great Circle.

A few days ago Piscatella said that now players buy a console for their ecosystem and it is very difficult for them to change for exclusivities. This is demonstrated seeing that Forza Horizon 5, a title released in 2021 in Xbox and PC, is the best selling in PS5 during the second quarter of 2025. Playstation players wanted Forza Horizon 5, but not changing console. If we add that the cost of developing AAA games is very high, launching games on other platforms to find that audience that does not want to leave its ecosystem makes sense, especially if as Microsoft you have invested more than 80,000 million dollars to be one of the largest editors in the world.

While in Microsoft there are no red lines when taking games to other platforms, in Sony the barriers are slowly falling. PlayStation Studios's commitment to the PC has been running for years, while in Xbox just started with the recent announcement of Helldivers II, a multiplayer game that benefits from having the largest possible players base. It seems difficult that this initiative goes more if we take into account that in Hardware PlayStation it does not find rival in Xbox, but the current console market was unimaginable a few years ago. Time and the need to increase income will say.
