Players interested in Shenmue III Enhanced will have to wait a few weeks to find out the release date, but from today they can start thinking about which edition, standard, special or collector, they will acquire when it is available. As part of the reservation campaign, the publisher ININ Games has shown a trailer where for the first time we can see in motion the improved version of Yu Suzuki's game in development for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, Nintendo Switch 2 and PC (Steam).

The standard edition of Shenmue 3 includes a copy of the title for PS5 or Xbox Series for 39.99 euros, while the version for Switch 2 on cartridge goes up to 54.99 euros. The special edition of 59.99 euros (74.99 on Switch 2) adds a Blu-ray disc with the documentary A Gamer's Journey: The Definitive History of Shenmue that explores the professional career and creative vision of Yu Suzuki, and the art book The Making of Shenmue III Enhanced. For its part, the collector's edition includes a 15 cm figure of Ryo Hazuki, a scroll, a keychain, a shikishi sheet, an A2 poster, kung-fu cards and stickers for 199.99 euros.

In the trailer below we can see and hear Yu Suzuki, who, in addition to thanking the players for the support they have given to Shenmue III, announces the start of the reservation campaign. As he speaks, the enhanced version of the game is shown for the first time.

Shenmue III Enhanced features improved graphics, faster loading times, 4K character and environment textures, smoother gameplay, higher NPC density, DLSS and FSR support, and a camera inspired by Shenmue I and II. There are also optional adjustments to the stamina system, health recovery before battles and the economy for smoother progression, while in options we have the possibility to skip cutscenes and conversations or adjust the QTE time window. Additionally, the user interface has been revised.

All the major changes introduced by Shenmue III Enhanced can be activated and deactivated, a formula that allows the original experience to be preserved.

The original Shenmue III was released in 2020 for PlayStation 4 and PC (Steam) after completing a crowdfunding campaign that raised more than $8 million. With the improved version, the game will come to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series, in whose respective catalogs we already find Shenmue I and II, and Nintendo Switch 2.
