FBC: Firebreak went on sale on June 17 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series and PC (Steam, Epic Games Store), and from day one is part of the catalogs of the Game Pass and PlayStation Plus services. In Steam, the title has registered a peak of 1,992 players. When asked about this low number of simultaneous users, Thomas Puha, Director of Communications of Remedy, says that this statistic «is not everything.» «We are not naive, we expected a better release, but the team is very motivated to continue developing the game and responding to the feedback of the players, «says Puha.
Regarding the launch in Game Pass and PlayStation Plus, Remedy comments that these subscription services allow a large number of players to try a game and consider that they are very good for the matchmaking. Puha also recognizes that subscription services players «tend to get less time than those who buy the game, but it is also easier for them to return» when there are updates or new content. «Every day a good number of console players arrive,» he adds. FBC: Firebreak took just over a week to reach one million players among all platforms.
Remedy is currently processing the whole feedback which has received from FBC players: Firebreak. The first results are visible with the launch of several patches that have applied changes and improvements in quality of life. For the second half of July, patch 1.4 is planned that includes a rebalancing of the economy that has as its main objective that players take levels of level 3. The road map also includes two large content updates for autumn and winter.
In parallel, Remedy continues to work in Control 2, which will be an Action RPG with a budget of 50 million euros (compared to the 30 million euros of FBC: Firebreak), and the remake by Max Payne and Max Payne 2 for Rockstar Games.
