After a longer wait than expected, Path of Exile II players can finally sink their teeth into the title, which is available today through early access on PS5, Xbox Series and PC through Steam and Epic Games Store. Like the first Path of Exile, we are faced with an open-world action RPG, but until it reaches version 1.0 you have to check out and pay at least 30 euros. Early access will last «as long as necessary,» which will be at least six months.

The Path of Exile II campaign is set a few years after the first installment, when Wraeclast has a good season free of corruption. However, the Earl of Ogham wants to control it again and a new seed of corruption causes the dead to rise, monsters to mutate and madness to spread. Those responsible for putting an end to this situation will once again be the players. From the first day of early access, Path of Exile II will offer three acts with which you can rise to level 45. Repeating them on Cruel difficulty will take the character to level 65. During early access, the three remaining acts will be added to complete the story and have a route to level 65.

More than a million Path of Exile II keys have already been redeemed and there could be queues over the weekend.

Regarding classes, Path of Exile 2 starts with six, each with its own playing style and two ancestors to fine-tune its gameplay. They are the following: Monk, Warrior, Explorer, Mercenary, Witch and Sorceress. Early access will be used to add six more classes with their corresponding ancestors. In short, we have three acts and six classes and the plan is to double this content during the journey to version 1.0. Details about the six other classes and their respective ancestry will be known later.

On the other hand, there is a new skill gem system. Grinding Gear Games promises «hundreds of skill gems,» which are active skills, and «almost the same amount» of support gems. You have to combine both gems to achieve one build perfect depending on each person's playing style and preferences. To this we must add the passive skill skill and the double specialization system.

As is often the case in this type of game, completing the campaign is just the beginning. In the case of Path of Exile II, reaching level 65 means entering the endgamewhere multiple activities await to continue leveling up and increase the character's power. Completing some of these challenges, including Trials of the Sekhemas and Trial of Chaos, allows you to access character ancestry.
