Infinity Ward has offered the first details and shown with a brief trailer Kill Block, a new multiplayer experience that will debut with Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4. This mode is part of a much more extensive multiplayer offer, which will be developed through 12 maps set in different parts of the world. It will be there where players will have their pluses and minuses in the traditional game modes and their variants.

The action of Kill Block takes place in a Training Center in Westbridge, which is distinguished by presenting a dynamic battlefield in which the combat space is reconfigured between rounds. This means that players will have to adapt in real time as sight lines, routes and coverage will change each round. Kill Block will offer more than 500 possible configurations thanks to a set of modular sections and will initially be available in 3v3 Gunfight and 10v10 Gunfight modes. More sections and settings will be added during Modern Warfare 4 seasons.

Kill Block’s design is based on three modular sections, two outer and one central, which combine to create new battlefields. Infinity Ward claims that most sections are completely new, while others are inspired by well-known locations from the Modern Warfare series, including Crash, Storage Town, and Shoot House among others. The development team says that when you put the three spaces that make up Kill Block together, its size is similar to that of the Shoot House map from Modern Warfare (2019). The stage has different markers and signs to guide you.

In Kill Block not only does the terrain change, but so does the weather. Some of its sections are equipped with a weather simulation system that is capable of making it rain or snow all over the map. These conditions can change visibility, so it will be another element to adapt to. Weapons will also be affected by the weather. For example, they will accumulate water or snow until the player switches weapons or reloads.

Those who three see how the Kill Block mode battlefield works think of the Santiago Bernabéu and its modular design with retractable grass that is stored underground, are not alone. During the presentation of Modern Warfare 4 last May Jacky Reynolds, lead designer of the multiplayer mode, said that they had been inspired by the Real Madrid field, which can remove the grass where soccer is normally played to make way for a space where events are held (as long as they are not concerts).

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 will be available on October 23 for PS5, Xbox Series, Switch 2 and PC.
