In June 2025, the science fiction action-adventure title MindsEye starred in a disappointing launch that positioned it as one of the candidates for worst game of the year. Since then Build A Rocket Boy, the team led by the producer of Grand Theft Auto, has continued working on the project and today released a major update that hopes to serve as a reboot and lay the groundwork for future updates and expansions.

«After months of post-launch support following player and critical feedback, MindsEye receives its largest update to date, achieving the studio's vision for quality and laying the groundwork for exciting future content updates,» says Build A Rocket Boy. The development team ensures that the update available for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series and PC serves as the culmination of months of work since launch, and considers that thanks to it the title is at a «perfect moment» for players to return or try it for the first time.

«The update focuses on improving campaign fluidity, making objectives easier to follow, optimizing AI behavior, and much more,» explains Build A Rocket Boy. Deluxe Edition owners get the Silva E-Series as an extra, a street circuit in the center of Redrock. According to the patch notes Published on the official website, the update requires a download of 7.4 GB on PC, 5.5 GB on Xbox Series and 2.5 GB on PS5.

“The update is a big step forward for MindsEye and our studio,” says Mark Gerhard, CEO and CTO at Build a Rocket Boy. «I want to thank everyone who has played […] now our team […]. We listened, acted quickly, and continue to optimize performance, make adjustments, and deliver substantial improvements to combat and gameplay. «Our primary goal remains to deliver the MindsEye experience we always envisioned and our players deserve.»

The MindsEye journey does not end here. Build a Rocket Boy assures that it is working on an expansion that it will present later and in a multiplayer mode.

As players download the MindsEye update, we will know if Build A Rocket Boy has managed to solve the serious problems that the game suffered at different levels when it was released. If you look at the Steam reviews, the overall ones are «Mixed», but the recent ones are «Very Positive», which is a sign that the improvements released over the last few months have been well received by players. Time will tell if Build A Rocket Boy pulls through and successfully completes this redemption arc.
