After announcing its release date with great fanfare during The Game Awards 2025, Warner Bros. Games has decided that Lego Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight will be available a week early. This means that the title developed by TT Games for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series and PC (Steam and Epic Games Store) will go on sale on May 22 instead of May 29. The version for Nintendo Switch 2 will arrive later.

Warner Bros. Games has not given any reason to justify the new date, and instead has taken the opportunity to remember that the reservation campaign for Lego Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight is still open. Players have the option to purchase the standard (69.99 euros) and deluxe (89.99 euros) edition on all platforms. The first includes the game and the second adds 72 hours of early access (May 19), three cosmetic packs and additional content available in September to play with Joker and Harley Quinn in a new story mission. This addon also introduces Chaotic mode.

Pre-ordering any edition of the game is rewarded with the Dark Knight Returns batsuit.

If we take a look at the calendar, we will see that advancing the release date of Lego Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight by one week serves to reach stores a few days before 007 First Light, the new action and adventure game developed by IO Interactive that will go on sale on May 27. Initially the James Bond title had to be available on March 27, but at the end of 2025 it delayed its launch by two months with the aim of offering the best possible experience to players.

In the second half of May there is, at least as of today, no other major launch. Yoshi and the Mysterious Book coming out on May 21 is a major title for Nintendo Switch 2, but it's not cross-platform nor does it directly compete with Lego Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight or 007 First Light. The schedule will be even more complicated during the second half of the year because Grand Theft Auto VI is scheduled to debut on November 19. Marvel: Wolverine has already moved away, setting its arrival in stores for September 15. We'll see what other titles like Fable do.
