Lego Sega Mega Drive will be available from June 1, 2026 in exchange for 39.99 euros. For that price, the interested party will receive a set made up of 479 pieces, which once assembled will give life to a Mega Drive measuring 4 cm high, 16 cm wide and 12 cm deep. As accessories we have a cartridge and two detachable controls that can be connected to the console. It goes without saying that this is a decorative object intended for display and will under no circumstances respond to attempts to light it.
In Europe and Japan we talk about Mega Drive, but in the United States this same console is called Genesis, a disparity in the name that Lego has taken into account. Whoever wants the build to bear the Genesis name will only have to apply the included sticker. The Lego Mega Drive or Genesis set is quite small compared to the NES and Atari 2600 sets, which total 2,656 and 2,532 pieces, respectively. Of course, its price is also much higher: the NES costs 229.99 euros and the Atari one costs 239.99 euros. Lego Mega Drive is more in line with Lego Game Boy with its 421 pieces and 59.99 euros.
Mega Drive is the first Sega console to be transformed into a Lego set, but not the first product from the Japanese company to pass through the hands of the toy company. In fact, there is a range of Sega Lego toys starring the Sonic universe and that includes sets and figures aimed at both boys and girls and adults. The truth is that Lego has found a vein in the world of video games. Lego’s Super Mario line has more than 22 sets and nearly 100 products including characters and consoles, while The Legend of Zelda has two sets and Animal Crossing has seven sets. On Sony’s side, we have some Horizon product and the Lego Horizon Adventures game.
Lego’s latest bet related to the video game industry is the Pokémon sets that went on sale last February.
