The dwarves of Deep Rock Galactic are back in action with the launch of Deep Rock Galactic: Rogue Core, a new spin-off of the saga created by Ghost Ship Games that is available today through Steam early access for 29.99 euros. This development phase is expected to last between 18 and 24 months.

The main difference between Deep Rock Galactic, the first title in the series released in 2020, and Deep Rock Galactic: Rogue Core is the structure roguelite. At a gameplay level it means that players start each mission with the most basic equipment and gain random upgrades, equipment and skills as they progress. This system allows you to give life to many builds and synergies. «In Rogue Core, the difficulty will also increase dramatically as you progress through a mission, unlike Deep Rock Galactic, where the difficulty is more consistent from the beginning to the end of the mission,» adds the development team.

Those interested in Deep Rock Galactic: Rogue Core should know that it is a game designed for cooperative mode. The gameplay is based on Deep Rock Galactic and has all the known mechanics and others that are new, but focused on creating builds that work well as a team.

Deep Rock Galactic: Rogue Core stars an elite security force called Reclaimer, who are sent deep into Hoxxes with the goal of reestablishing communications with mining facilities and gathering information about the extreme environments near the planet’s core. To accomplish this mission, the dwarves have an arsenal made up of weapons and equipment that can be found in the mining facility. There is also the option to mine minerals to craft upgrades. Armory construction is done on the fly, so adaptation is a requirement.

In the depths of Hoxxes, all manner of enemies await, including Core Kindred, a new class of creature that poses a threat to mining operations.

Throughout Early Access, Deep Rock Galactic: Rogue Core players will receive updates with new features and content (weapons, equipment, enemies, bosses, biomes, upgrades…), which will be developed taking into account community feedback and the development team’s own observations and initiatives. Each new feature will be tweaked, balanced and polished. The biggest difference between Early Access and 1.0 will be the breadth and depth of the game, not the quality. «We want everything to work perfectly from the start,» says Ghost Ship Games.
