On PlayStation, the five most played games in the United States during 2025 are in this order: Fortnite, Call of Duty, Grand Theft Auto V, Roblox and Minecraft. The 2024 list is exactly the same, including the order. On Xbox, the five protagonists repeat in the following order: Fortnite, Call of Duty, Grand Theft Auto V, Minecraft and Roblox. In the case of Xbox, the only difference compared to 2024 is the classification. A year ago Call of Duty was first and Fortnite second, Minecraft was in third position and GTA V in fourth.
That these five titles are the most played for two years in a row in one of the most important markets in the world such as the United States leaves us with many messages, including the strength of games as a service, the immortality of Grand Theft Auto V, the difficulty of finding a place in this sector and the power of Microsoft, which is the company behind the Call of Duty and Minecraft franchises. On the other hand, it must be taken into account that these types of games that evolve over time are easier to maintain their community than those based on a narrative campaign.
Nor is the fact that Fortnite and Roblox are games minor. free-to-play which cover many modes, while Call of Duty has Warzone.
It is also interesting to see that between the five most played games on console and Steam there is no coincidence. It is true that titles like Counter-Strike 2 and Dota 2 do not have a version for PlayStation or Xbox, but both PUBG and Arc Raiders, two of the most popular games on Steam, are available on both consoles. Where the same game is extremely popular on PlayStation, Xbox and Steam is Grand Theft Auto V, which thanks to GTA Online has become an evergreen product. Grand Theft Auto VI will arrive this year on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series and for now there is no news about the PC version.
