The GOG Preservation Program is to preserve the classic PC games to remain compatible with modern configurations. A work that the store owned by CD Projakt Red does with its own technical team, and that guarantees that any title that is part of the program will work now and in the future. In addition, the most complete possible version of the game is always received, with its manuals, extra and additional content and sometimes with characteristics that are not available in other editions.
In the card of each game included in the preservation program you can read the applied improvements or changes. All often coincide that they improve compatibility with Windows 10 and Windows 11, and from here other functions are introduced according to the needs or possibilities. We talk about support for modern controls, saved in the cloud, improved compatibility with Directx, improvements in stability, performance and playable experience or even content restoration. And if for some reason the game ceases to be available in GOG, there is a commitment to keep it updated.
