Ghost of Yotei Legends offers two alternatives: story missions for two players and survival games for four players. Regardless of the option selected, before the action begins you must choose one of the four available classes, each of which sports a particular weapon. The samurai equips the Odachi (a Japanese sword); the archer uses a yari (spear); The mercenary uses two katanas; and the shinobi prefers a Kusarigama (a chain attached to a sickle). Some of the technology trees focus on the use of the main weapon, but nothing prevents them from using others. Additionally, there are items such as firearms and skills with cooldowns.
Legends' enemies are followers of the Yotei Six, a group that includes 15-foot-tall demonic bosses. There are also sub-bosses themed after the boss's abilities.
Each mission in Legends mode is replayable and there are four difficulties: bronze, silver, gold and platinum. The higher the difficulty, the faster you gain experience, the more character classes advance, and the better the loot. When signing up for a mission, especially high-level ones, you must keep in mind that there are recommended equipment levels for each difficulty. As a reward, players will get a series of cosmetic items that deal with supernatural and fantasy themes.
Story missions pit players against legends as a narrator explains the campaign. There are two story missions that end in a Raid. This raid, which is for four players instead of two and requires communication, will arrive next month and will involve facing two of the Yotei Six, the Dragon and Lord Saito. On the other hand we have survival, in which four players must overcome waves of enemies. In this case we have four missions, each of which is inspired by the theme of one of the bosses, and in which we have to defend three locations.
Sucker Punch Productions began developing Legends mode at the same time as the Ghost of Yotei campaign. A core team worked on multiplayer throughout Ghost of Yotei's development, and as studio members involved in the solo campaign finished their work they moved on to Legends to expand it.
