NEW BANDZO IN ELECTRONIC ARTS. The company has decided to cancel the development of the Black Panther game that announced in the summer of 2023 and close Cliffhanger Games, the study that was in charge of the title. This is stated by Ign, who has had access to the email that Laura Miele, president of EA Entertainment, has sent those affected. This movement is carried out within the framework of a new restructuring that has affected other equipment to a lesser extent.

Black Panther's details were practically null. When the title was presented, it only transpired that we were facing an action and adventure game for a player with a third -person camera and an original story set in Wakanda. Cliffhanger Games, the study responsible for the project, opened its doors in 2021 and has (or had) Kevin Stephens, former head of Monolith Productions (Middle -earth: shadows of mordor and shades of war), as the most responsible. Unfortunately Monolith Productions closed last February when Warner Bros. Wonder Woman's game took ahead.

This is the third round of layoffs that Electronic Arts executes this year. The last one was at the end of April, when the company threw 300 employees and canceled a game of the Titanfall franchise. Apparently it was a shooter of extraction with R7 code name.

«These decisions are difficult,» says email signed by Mielle. «They affect people we have worked with, from which we have learned and with whom we have shared unforgettable moments.» In the message the executive says that «we are doing everything possible» so that the dismissed can find new opportunities within Electronic Arts. The company has executed hundreds of layoffs in recent years, but while lightening some departments expands the workforce of others.

In the same mail where Black Panther has been canceled and Cliffhanger Games closed, Laura Miele adds that in the face of the future Electronic Arts will focus on a small group of franchises, including Battlefield, the Sims, Skate and Apex Legends. The company will also continue to support the Iron Man game that Motive develops, the third installment of Star Wars: Jedi in the hands of Respawn Entertainment and the division of mobile games. Bioware also survives, which continues to work in the next Mass Effect.

In his mail Malle, he does not mention EA Sports because it is an independent division that Ign has not been affected by these cuts.
