In April Pearl Abyss offered a preview of the new features and improvements that Crimson Desert was going to receive gradually until June, but the company will not stick to its roadmap. Between the update released at the end of April (1.04.00) and today’s update (1.05.00), the development team has added practically all the promised new features to the game well ahead of schedule. First came specialized storage along with technical and visual improvements, and now replayability increases with the Revenge and New Lockout systems.

Rematch is a feature that allows players to re-fight defeated bosses at any time to test their progress and rehearse tactics in order to adjust their combat style. Now, when you defeat a boss, an Ephemeral Memory appears on the world map and the minimap that allows you to start a Revenge. The revenge can be started with any character (Kliff, Oongka or Damiane) and currently has two modes. Remembrance replays the boss fight exactly the same as the first time, while Resonance adjusts the boss’s stats to adapt to the player’s progress.

Once the Revenge fight is over, all used consumables are restored, but no additional loot is obtained. «This may change in future updates,» says Pearl Abyss.

The New Blockade mechanic adds new options for finding combat by preventing access to already liberated areas of the map. Crashes will occur with a certain probability on fortresses that meet specific time and condition requirements, and are applied after a loading screen, such as when saving and loading, or when sleeping in a bed. Players can adjust the frequency of bans in the settings. The Stable option disables crashes; Voltage (default) causes crashes intermittently; and Open Warfare causes crashes to occur frequently.

Currently 13 different factions can run new blockades on 23 forts and quarries. The number of factions participating in the blockades as well as the bases affected will be progressively expanded, while the difficulty of the enemies that appear during the blockade will be adjusted to make the challenge greater.

«We are aware that as more regions of the continent are liberated, combat opportunities naturally become scarce,» says Pearl Abyss. «To keep the challenge alive, we’ve added Revenge and New Lockdown content. We continue to refine these features, and this update is the first step in implementing its core systems. From this foundation, we will progressively refine these mechanics in future patches and shape a deeper world […]».

This update also adds new legendary animals that can be adopted as pets and fixes dozens of bugs, including the issue that prevented legendary mounts from being summoned and the issue that caused comrades’ trust to reset.
