Few will be surprised to learn that Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is the biggest release third-party of Game Pass in 2025. This was announced by the Xbox team, which is especially proud to have trusted this game developed by Sandfall Interactive to include it in its events and add it to the subscription service since its launch.

The information on Xbox Wire is not particularly detailed. To confirmation that Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is the biggest release third-party of Game Pass in 2025, we can only add that this information is based on the number of unique users registered during the first 30 days after launch. ID@Xbox, the initiative that facilitates the publication of games in the Xbox ecosystem, has not offered any further data, so we do not know how many Game Pass subscribers have played Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 or which are the other games available on the service that have been most successful this year.

What we do have are statements from Guillaume Broche, creative director of Sandfall Interactive, who assures that Xbox's support was very important to publicize the game and reach many players. Broche highlights having been able to present Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 at the Xbox Game Showcase 2024, an event in which Doom: The Dark Ages and Gears of War: E-Day were also announced, as well as the appearance of the title during the Developer Direct 2025 last January. At this event a new trailer was discovered with gameplay and the release date.

Another of Clair Obscur: Expedition 33's allies was Game Pass, which according to Guillaume Broche allowed many people to try the game. The creative assures that RPGs with turn-based combat have many fans, but that sometimes there are players who do not take the step to prefer real-time action. Broche maintains that Game Pass helps reduce the barrier to entry and that many players who tried the title found it a fun experience although at first they were not entirely convinced.

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 has surpassed 5 million copies, has an update on the way with a new environment and enemies, and is the most nominated game in the entire history of The Game Awards. The title has 12 mentions and is the favorite to win the Game of the Year 2025 crown.
