Call of Duty: Warzone begins to say goodbye to PS4 and Xbox One, and will no longer be available at the end of the year

The Call of Duty saga leaves the last generation. First it was Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4, a game announced today for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, Nintendo Switch 2 and PC, and now it’s the turn of Call of Duty: Warzone. Activision has revealed that the game free-to-play It has a roadmap ahead of it to leave PlayStation 4 and Xbox One behind that will end at the end of the year when it is no longer available on these two consoles.

Starting June 4, Call of Duty: Warzone will be removed from the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One digital stores and will no longer be available for download. «Content purchased with currency, including COD and BlackCell Points as well as Call of Duty League Operator Packs, will be removed from the in-game store and corresponding menus on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One,» says Activision. For its part, the Battle Pass will continue to be available, allowing players to unlock free levels.

The second step will occur on June 25, when the Call of Duty: Warzone store will be removed from the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions. The third and final step will occur with the start of the first season of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4, at which point Call of Duty: Warzone will be integrated with the new title and will no longer be available on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. It is unknown when the first season of Modern Warfare 4 will begin, but the game will go on sale on October 23 and typically between two and four weeks pass between the game’s release and integration with Warzone.

Call of Duty: Warzone progress and content can be transferred to any platform, as long as you use the same Activision account. The transfer includes both progress and purchased content, while COD Points will only be available on a console of the same family. On PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, COD points can be redeemed until June 25, the date on which Warzone will close its store on these consoles.
