With three weeks left until the release of Beast of Reincarnation, publisher Fictions has released a new trailer for the game with details about the combat system, a very important aspect in an action RPG like this. Behind this title we have Game Freak, a Japanese studio widely known for being responsible for the Pokémon franchise. This new project has little to do with Pikachu and company.

When engaging in combat with an enemy, Beast of Reincarnation players will see that it has two gauges in the form of a bar, the upper one indicating the target’s health and the lower one that must be refilled to stun it and be able to finish it off. One of the most important mechanics is stopping. If you stop an enemy attack at the right time, you will hardly receive any damage, and this action will also refill the power meter of Koo, the dog affected by corruption that accompanies Emma, our protagonist.

When the Koo bar is full, you have the option to open a drop-down menu and select a technique as if it were a command. During this movement time slows down so you can choose with peace of mind. Successfully executed special attacks significantly refill the enemy’s stun bar. The combat mechanics are the same regardless of the number of enemies. What changes is Emma and Koo’s choice of attacks, which have options to adapt to different scenarios. Finding synergies between the two is essential for success.

In Beast of Reincarnation players will also encounter bosses of great size and power, but even their attacks can be deflected if the timing is right. Again, the combat mechanics do not change, but it is the players who must adapt to the enemy, and once again it is Koo’s techniques that make the difference and add a layer of depth to the combat. As they defeat enemies, Emma gains power and Koo attacks. Progress also goes through a talent tree where new techniques and skills can be learned for Emma.

Beast of Reincarnation will be released on August 4 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series and PC through Steam. From day one the game will also be available on Game Pass.
