Naval Combat will introduce Battlefield 6 to a new line of naval vehicles designed specifically for open water combat. «These new vessels expand Battlefield’s combined arms arsenal, introducing new tactical opportunities in every match,» explains DICE. «In support of naval warfare, a new dynamic wave system has been implemented that changes the way battles play out on water, adding another fascinating element to naval combat.» With the naval battle, the development team aims to expand the ways to approach each confrontation.
Piloting a ship involves using the same controls as a land vehicle. However, their behavior is different and this is largely due to the fact that they travel on water. In this sense, Battlefield 6 players will encounter a new dynamic wave system that creates two distinct sailing experiences: open water and inland waterways. Offshore waves make navigation much more difficult, which also makes aiming more difficult, while inland waterways are calmer and more predictable, but involve greater danger being closer to land.
The new Tsuru Reefs map is made up of a chain of islands and has been «designed around the naval warfare and combined arms gameplay characteristic of Battlefield,» says DICE. It is a battlefield created to support combat on land, sea and air, offering a variety of ways to approach each match. This is one of the largest maps in the game, so it offers generous room for maneuver, flanking opportunities, and a choice of how to engage each objective.
With Season 4 will come a second map that debuted in Battlefield 1942 and appeared in Battlefield V. This is Wake Island, which has been reinvented to adapt to the scale and gameplay systems of Battlefield 6. Unlike Tsuru Reefs, which will be available on day one, Wake Island will be added with a content update whose release date is set for August 19. In the screenshot above these lines you can see the content and news that will be available throughout season 4.
