The Alters is a survival and science fiction game with construction and manufacturing elements that has Jan dolski, the only survivor of an expedition that has been forced to make a forced landing on a distant and hostile planet. To get ahead they need help. In this world there is a substance called Rapidium that allows to create alternative versions of Jan, each characterized by a different crucial decision that our protagonist had to take in the past. In other words, these alters are born from a and yes …? and have their own emotional skills and issues.
The players will know in advance the vital decision and the features of each version of Jan thanks to the quantum computer of the base, which simulates the different alternative results of the past elections. Each alternate offers a new option to face the problems that the original has, but we must bear in mind that they are not clones, but alternative versions of the same person who have needs, opinion, personal problems, ways to do things … In the end the players will have within their reach a crew that they must manage.
However, we must not forget that we are facing a survival game. Jan and its alternative versions must operate a mobile base and explore the planet's surface in search of resources to create necessary objects and improve and expand the base with extra modules. Due to the characteristics of the planet, leaving the shelter means exposing yourself to lethal anomalies and the radiation of the sun, so the day and night cycle must be taken into account and plan the daily activities. Players will also make decisions when they solve what to do with resources or how to expand the base, which will have an impact on Jan and their versions.
Jan's decisions and the effect they have on their life and survival as well as the relationship they maintain with their alters, they will be noticed as a science fiction story progresses with moral dilemmas and paths that branch. The ultimate goal is to flee from the planet.
