Hideo Kojima returns to the load with Death Stranding 2: On The Beach, a game that is available exclusively for PlayStation 5. The first installment of the saga also debuted only in a Sony console (PS4), but over time it landed on more platforms including Xbox Series and PC. Since last year Kojima Productions controls the Death Stranding franchise, so it is very possible that within a time the sequel visit other pastures. If you have not completed the first Death Stranding you should not read this news.

The Death Stranding 2 campaign takes place eleven months after the events of the first installment, when Sam Bridges lives quietly with Lou, his baby Bridge, and is in Mexico to fulfill an order for Fragile. An incident will lead Sam to Australia and there he must travel the country to once again reconnect a fractured society. While in the first installment the story focused on the relationship between Sam and Cliff, the sequel deepens more about who Lou and his relationship with Sam and the past of this.

Death Stranding developed before the COVID and according to Kojima «was inspired by the fear of social fragmentation and isolation», but after living the pandemic the Japanese designer acknowledges that he began to go around the dangers of being too connected. «I left a lot of clues in the game, such as the theory of sticks and strings, so I think the players will join the points at the end,» says Kojima. «In the game they will also find characters that give voice to my thoughts.» Another of the clues is that in the logo the threads fall and do not hang. What does it mean to be connected? Should we have connected?

New players or those who want to catch up with history can do so with a summary included in the game. Another option is to go to YouTube and watch a six -minute video.

Death Stranding 2 will not only answer questions with your narrative and kinematics, but will also offer an action game with a faster pace. A few years ago Kojima said that Death Stranding was going to establish the bases and that the sequelae would seek to refine the proposal to give life to a new genre. This is the same formula as the developer used with Metal Gear Solid and Metal Gear Solid 2. First he taught the players how the mechanics of stealth worked and in the sequel gave them more options and introduced new mechanical.

«Death Stranding 2: On The Beach was designed with a similar philosophy,» Kojima said in an interview. «The players familiarized themselves with the genre to make deliveries' in the first game, but the continuation expands this concept and provides more options and freedom, especially in the fighting, where it is possible to choose between using the entire arsenal, or not using weapons at all. Cars and motorcycles are now also more accessible.»

For the Hideo Kojima press it has been closely successful with Death Stranding 2: On The Beach. The average note is 90 out of 100 in OpenCritic and Metacritic, an assessment that is more than five points above than the first installment.
