Blightd proposes players to fight in «a psychedelic nightmare in the Wétern -style.» The title is set in a world where in the past the dead were buried with seeds in their brains that grew to became trees that borne fruits full of memories. This was so until Sorcisto, who acquired great power and knowledge by eating raw brains, desecrated the ritual, destroyed the village of the protagonist, swept the trees forest of memory and infected the world with a deadly plague.
Our hero is the only survivor of Sorcisto's attack, and it is his responsibility to recover the memories of his people before the plague with which he has infected consumes him. The plague is deadly, but also a source of power that allows to overcome enemies, chain blows and perform powerful executions. Drinkbox Studios explains that «plague serves as a dynamic difficulty system that constantly changes enemies, the player and the world around them.» As the protagonist absorbs the brains of defeated bosses, he obtains his memories, increases his strength, expands his skills and opens new paths, but also grows the influence of the plague.
When Blightd is available, he will offer solo game and a cooperative mode where two players can join in a game. The system will allow the friend to leave and one to the game at any time. Regarding the soundtrack, he is in charge of Jim Guthrie, composer of Superbrothers: Sword & SWorcery EP, Below and Nobody Saves The World.
