Sony Interactive Entertainment has announced a partnership with Bad Robot Games, a division of Bad Robot, to produce and publish the first game developed in-house by the film and television production company founded by JJ Abrams (Lost, Star Trek). The title has no name or release window, but we know that it is in development for PlayStation 5 and PC.

The project has yet to be formally announced, but it has already emerged that it is a shooter four-player cooperative directed by Mike Booth, who many will know as the creator of Left 4 Dead. It is unknown if JJ Abrams will participate in some way in the project, but with the name Mike Booth and the gender, it will be enough for more than one person to at least closely follow the evolution of the initiative. For now Sony has not given any clue as to when it plans to present and show the title to everyone.

For those who don't know him, Mike Booth is the founder of Turtle Rock Studios, a company that after several years working on Counter-Strike and developing Left 4 Dead was acquired by Valve in 2008 and renamed Valve South. The studio closed in 2010, but returned that same year as an independent team. Mike Booth stayed at Valve until 2012 and after moving through companies like Blizzard and Facebook in 2020 he joined Bad Robot Games.

For its part, Turtle Rock Studios developed Evolve (2015) and Black 4 Blood (2021) before being acquired by Tencent in 2021.

Beyond announcing the partnership between Sony Interactive Entertainment and Bad Robot Games and highlighting the genre of the game as well as the involvement of Mike Booth as creative leader, in the statement from both companies there are only statements of praise and good intentions. Consequently, the status of the game is unknown. However, if we take into account that Mike Booth joined Bad Robot Games in 2020 and that in 2021 the company said that it was working on a cooperative multiplayer title, it is possible that the project has been in development for a few years.
