The Black Ops series is tremendously very popular within the Call of Duty universe, so much so that it already has seven chapters and the previous one released last year registered the largest launch in the history of the franchise. How did we get here? It all started with Raúl Menéndez, an arms dealer turned populist leader, who waged a personal vendetta against the United States that sparked a cyber war and a second cold war. Putting an end to Menéndez took two generations, starting with that of Alex Mason in the mid-80s and that of his son David in 2025. David managed to put a stop to Menéndez's plans. However, infrastructure collapsed and chaos and mistrust broke out worldwide.
As a result of this conflict, new forces emerged such as The Brotherhood, a former crime syndicate turned into a technological giant that under the direction of Emma Kagan has promised to save humanity. The Black Ops 7 campaign is set in 2035, when Menéndez has returned and The Brotherhood is presented as a global threat. To get answers Mason and his team travel to the city of Avalon, headquarters of The Brotherhood.
Those who prefer multiplayer will find 16 6v6 maps, including 13 new maps and three classic maps returning from Black Ops 2 (Express, Hijacked and Raid), as well as two new large-scale maps for 20v20 Skirmish. Regarding game modes, we have all the expected ones and a new one called Overload, in which two teams fight to obtain a device that allows overloading areas under enemy control. At the gameplay level, Overclocks stands out, a new improvement system to adapt the style of play.
In third and last place we have zombies, a mode that returns with the largest map to date and a plot that follows the events narrated in Black Ops 6. In the previous installment we left Weaver, Maya, Carver and Gray trapped in the dark ether, and now they face alternative versions of Richtofen, Dempsey, Nikolai, and Takeo. This mode brings back survival maps where players must face rounds of zombies in small spaces. There's also a top-down experience called Dead Ops Arcade 4.
Black Ops 7 is the first installment in the saga with global progression that includes the campaign. Consequently, both the experience and the challenges and camouflages achieved in the campaign will be transferred to multiplayer and zombies, as well as to Warzone from the first season.
