The Frostpunk 2 social survival game arrives at PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series

A year after its PC launch through Steam and Epic Games Store, the Frostpunk 2 Social Survival and Construction Game developed by 11 Bit Studios is available on PS5 and Xbox Series. The console version, whose launch trailer adorns the news, is also part of the Game Pass catalog to do the PC.

In Frostpunk (2018) the players were challenged to survive in New London, a city in a crater where heat came from a gigantic generator, during the white frost. Frostpunk 2 is set 30 years later, when technology has improved the living conditions of the inhabitants of the city, but the perennial winter continues to put the extremely difficult things in all areas of day to day. However, expansion is the only form of survival for humanity and to grow the metropolis needs resources, including coal and oil, while its inhabitants claim heat and food.

In New London, which is still the main city of Forspunk 2, players assume the power of a city with a much larger scale and where the practical authoritarianism of the first installment is no longer fashionable. Although the player continues to assume the role of leader, in this delivery we must deal with the interests of the different groups of citizens who can form factions and communities, each with his own perspective on the future of the city. The debate takes place in the council room, which is the building where laws are processed and negotiated with the delegates of each faction. Alliances should be chosen carefully.

Among the novelties that Forspunk 2 offers to be able to manage a larger city, we find the districts, which allow dividing the city into areas dedicated to different purposes, special buildings, which include the aforementioned Board of the Council or the Research Center, and the colonies, which allow them to enter the land in search of resources (and perhaps survivors that may or may not be accepted). And how could it be otherwise, heat management remains an element of vital importance for the city and its inhabitants. To facilitate things, there are new research, laws and a heat map.

Forspunk 2 players have the option of playing the campaign in the story mode or starting an experience with infinite game time with mode sandbox called utopias builder. Looking ahead, 11 Bit Studios plans to launch three additional contents. The first called Spectrum will arrive in autumn and the following two throughout 2026. The three accessories are included in the Deluxe Edition that is dispatched for 74.99 euros.
