Football Manager 25 was an especially important delivery because the intention of Sports Interactive was that its launch «assumed the greatest technical and visual advance of the franchise in a whole generation, and that the foundations of a new era would sit.» The engine change to Unity or the renewal of the interface were two of the great bets. However, its development has proven to be a greater challenge than expected, «and despite the titanic effort of our team, we have not been able to achieve what we set out in several sections of the game,» says the British study.
The delays that Football Manager 25 had suffered so far aimed at achieving the planned level, but as the key dates approached the development team saw increasingly clear that they were not going to reach the desired goal. Sports Interactive explains that some aspects of the game achieved the objectives, but «the general experience and the interface are not at the point we aspired.» After a «very exhaustive analysis» the study says to know what is the direction of the game and ensures that it is approaching it, but recognizes that «we remain far from what you deserve.»
Sports Interactive adds that they could have «tightened» to launch Football Manager 25 as it is and having fixed things later, «but we do not believe in that way of working.» Nor did they want the game to leave after March, because the season would be too advanced and «it would imply buying two games in a short time.»
Although Football Manager 25 has been canceled «after a very long internal conversation and a deep reflection by SEGA», the franchise continues and now all efforts are put in which the next installment meets the objectives and is at the level expected.
