In Company of Heroes 3: Final Stand, players must dig in, build layered defenses, and survive against waves of increasing enemy forces over 12 increasingly difficult rounds, including bosses and «special enemy complications» where events will need to be dealt with. The numbers say that Final Stand features 18 random events, 8 difficulty levels to welcome new players and veterans, and 36 boss units with different abilities and rewards. This wave defense experience can be enjoyed solo or in two-player co-op.
Relic Entertainment assures that Final Stand is an experience with progress roguelite designed to be repeated many times. The title allows you to create a battlegroup customized from the ground up to suit everyone’s playstyle using the US Forces, British Forces, Wehrmacht or Deutsches Afrikakorps across five maps. After each wave, permanent upgrades, including perks and abilities, are unlocked through a faction-specific progression tree. «These improvements significantly change how each faction plays, encouraging experimentation, long-term mastery, and replayability at high levels,» says the development team.
Company of Heroes 3: Final Stand is inspired by the wave-based gameplay modes that Relic Entertainment has offered in some of its previous titles, including Dawn of War II: The Last Stand and Age of Empires IV: Crucible. «Final Stand combines the classic tactical gameplay of Company of Heroes with systems roguelite«says the development team. This experience also seeks to differentiate itself by having World War II as its setting and offering players the necessary tools to star in their own battles.
On July 29, the same day that Company of Heroes 3: Final Stand will be available, Relic Entertainment will also release update 2.5.0 for Company of Heroes 3. Details about its content have not been revealed.
