Players who have managed to abandon Ball x Pit have a new reason to relapse on the horizon. This is The Shadow Update, which will be available on April 27 to add two new characters, eleven balls, four passives and a building. This content comes preceded by The Regal Update, which added two characters, eight balls and an infinite mode last January, and later it will be the turn of the Naturalist update.

“In this update, time begins to warp, with some new ball evolutions completely freezing and distorting time,” says Kenny Sun, designer of Ball x Pitt. The two new characters added by the update are The Tunneller, a miner whose shots do not stop at the edges, but rather surround the screen and return on the other side making practically all angles good, and The Tiptoer, a ninja who cannot be detected at close range in exchange for lower health and damage.

Of the eleven new balls added by The Shadow Update, the following eight have been revealed:

  • Venom: Stacks with each hit, slowing enemies until it locks them in place and paralyzes them.
  • Time: Drops a time trap that freezes enemies it hits.
  • Erosion: Each hit reduces a percentage of the enemy's health, making it very destructive against targets with more health.
  • Time Bomb: Places an explosive that detonates after a short period of time.
  • Timestop: Stops everything in its field of effect for a few seconds before activating its cooldown.
  • Warp: Teleports after each impact to a random point while accumulating speed.
  • Sniper: Passes through enemies but wears down when he hits a wall or comes back, sacrificing durability for critical hit chance.
  • Heart Swallower: Gives each hit a chance to drain some health from the enemy to heal the character, while weakening the target's attack by a percentage. Each enemy can only be drained once.

The four new liabilities are:

  • Full Metal Rapier: Increases the damage of each ball depending on the small balls and enemies on the battlefield.
  • Arrow of Fate: The character is immune to projectiles and fires a flurry of small balls whenever he is hit.
  • Argent Stopwatch: Balls start at 150% size and go down 30% with each bounce.
  • Sword Breaker: Reduces base damage by 75% while stacking it by 1% for each enemy.

Finally we have Guildhall, a new building that will allow players to once again select the previously chosen upgrades for their characters. In other words, it is a building to make re-roll.
