Konami and the French development team ZDT Studio have shown the launch trailer for Darwin's Paradox, a title also known as the octopus game, which is available today for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, Nintendo Switch and PC through Steam in exchange for 24.99 euros. On all four platforms you will find a demo with clear references to Metal Gear Solid that includes a level in an alien industrial complex.

Darwin's Paradox promises to offer an adventure «worthy of an animated film» that mixes narrative with platforms and puzzles. Its protagonist is Darwin, a very intelligent octopus who, while exploring the deep sea, was surprised by a ray of light that expelled him from the ocean. When he wakes up disoriented, he discovers that he is trapped in a huge and mysterious industrial complex. Your objective is to leave these facilities full of machines, holding tanks, strange characters and dangers of all kinds, to return to the aquatic world.

Darwin has all the characteristics you would expect from an octopus, including the ability to swim, climb almost any surface, camouflage himself to hide and avoid detection, and throw ink if he is in danger and wants to escape from his enemies. Ink shots can also be used to bypass or disable spotlights. «To return to the ocean, Darwin must surpass himself, evolve and show players the mysteries of a conspiracy that goes beyond what one can imagine… and that could mean the end of humanity,» says ZDT Studio.

Darwin's Paradox players will not only have to sharpen their eyesight and intelligence to solve puzzles. The development team ensures that for Darwin to survive it is very important to pay attention to the clues that the sounds give. If you play with a controller, the peripheral will transmit all of Darwin's movements through vibration. On a graphical level, the title has a 60 FPS performance mode with 4K dynamic scaling and Beauty Mode with 4K resolution and 30 FPS. Additionally, it is verified for Steam Deck and includes an exclusive mode for this laptop found in the settings menu.
