Capcom has issued a showcase dedicated to Resident Evil Requiem and focused on talking about the gameplay of Leon and Grace, the two protagonists of this installment. During the transmission, abundant gameplay and talked about collaborations with Porsche and Hamilton. If anyone was expecting the announcement of a demo, they will have been disappointed, so all they have to do is wait for the game to go on sale on February 27 for PS5, Xbox Series, Nintendo Switch 2 and PC through Steam and Epic Games Store.

«In this title, it's like you're playing two completely different games with Leon and Grace,» explains Koshi Nakanishi, director of Resident Evil Requiem. «Grace's sections are more similar to Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 7, very focused on gameplay where horror elements predominate. On the other hand, Leon's section is more reminiscent of the tension of Resident Evil 4, where terror loses prominence in favor of unmitigated action. By combining the strengths of each section and being able to play with both characters, the experience covers a range of emotions never seen to date in Resident Evil.»

«The contrast between moments of tension and relaxation is a strong point of Resident Evil,» continues Koshi Nakanishi. «Overall, each part is designed to offer just the right amount of tension and relaxation. That is the intention behind the structure of the game.» As Nakanishi himself has previously detailed, in Resident Evil Requiem there are two protagonists with their own playing style but a single story. In some parts the player will control Grace and in others he will assume the role of Leon.

Leon's gameplay is an evolution of Resident Evil 4. In Resident Evil Requiem the use of firearms remains essential and for this reason their use has been perfected, but he also has other options such as a hand ax with which he can deflect attacks and dispatch zombies. Likewise, it is possible to target specific parts of enemies and finish them off with melee attacks. For its part, Grace's gameplay emphasizes closed spaces, limited resources, and the priority of moving without being seen. Eliminating an enemy or fleeing is a crucial decision for this character.

Grace has a weapon called Requiem. It is a large-caliber assault revolver with limited ammunition, which acts as an emergency resource to save yourself in critical situations.

The director of Resident Evil Requiem has also detailed the existence of a new variety of infected. These are zombies that retain traits that characterized them in life. There are many zombies that stick to their old ways, so studying their movements can be very useful when avoiding or eliminating them. It has also been discovered that the item creation system allows infected blood to be used to create specialized injectors. «We've added and expanded several elements to make the gameplay reminiscent of Resident Evil 2,» says Nakanishi.
