Capcom says the Dark Arisen expansion seeks to fulfill three goals: «improved gameplay, unexplored adventures, and compelling value.» «As for new experiences, we plan to add three big elements,» explains Kinoshita. «First of all, there is a brand new story waiting for you in the long-abandoned northern region of Norhan. We have also added new challenges to the main area. You can take on 12 unique dungeon challenges with our custom character.»
«And finally, we will expand the character creator with more options,» adds the game director. «Now there will be more options for hairstyles and tattoos.»
Kinoshita also comments that since the launch of Dragon’s Dogma 2 they have received many comments from players, who in addition to offering their opinion also asked to continue playing and explore the world more. «We developed this expansion based on that feedback,» says the game director. «For more experienced players, prepare for an even richer experience. And for those coming to the game for the first time, we have created a fresh and exciting experience.»
In Norgan, adventurers will find an icy land full of challenges and mysteries. There are also relics that are obtained through exploration and combat. Relics can be appraised and forged weapons and armor. Some have special effects and unique abilities. «One of the great attractions of this title is the addictive gameplay loop of expeditions in search of relics,» says Kinoshita. Regarding the plot, it focuses on the Lich Dragon that appears in the main illustration of Dark Arisen and on Eir, the mysterious woman who pursues it.
Regarding the update that Dragon’s Dogma II will receive at the end of August, Kinoshita comments that «it will incorporate various tweaks to improve the quality of life and the gaming experience.» In addition to what has already been mentioned, adjustments will be made to pawns and enemies and the interface will be improved.
