According to Rolling Stone, BioWare has confirmed that there are «no plans» to release expansions for Dragon Age: The Veilguard because the developers' «attention has been completely focused on the next Mass Effect», which has now become in the main project of the study. For its part, IGN adds that BioWare continues to pay attention to Dragon Age: The Veilguard, which it plans to support with quality of life improvements and minor content updates. At the very least it seems that there will be no need to improve performance, since the game works correctly on a wide range of hardware.
A Dragon Age without additional content is a surprise. If we look back we will see that many installments of this saga have expanded their campaign with expansions that have been very important at a narrative level. With Dragon Age: Origins' Awakening we discover Anders, a character who returned with an important role in Dragon Age 2; in Dragon Age 2 the Legacy content introduced us to Corypheus, who was a centerpiece in Dragon Age: Inquisition; and Trespasser from Dragon Age: Inquisition is key content for the game's story and the character of Solas that we see in Dragon Age: The Veilguard.
If the story of Dragon Age: The Veilguard was meant to be a complete experience from the get-go, it's probably best not to try to stretch it, especially if there aren't enough resources or a good idea. Furthermore, in exchange we will have a Mass Effect and surely many prefer it that way. Regarding the next Mass Effect, we barely know anything about the game. Recently Michael Gamble, executive producer of BioWare, has said that the game will maintain the photorealistic art style and mature tone of the original trilogy.
Returning to Dragon Age: The Veilguard, it seems that the title has had a good reception. The notes are positive and on Steam it has achieved more than 84,000 concurrent players, a figure that places it above other Electronic Arts single-player games such as Star Wars Jedi: Survivor.
